Falkland Island 'Teal Duck', a resident breeder and their smallest duck, length: 38 - 41 cm (15 inches) . Male and female alike. Teal duck are common and widespread, found in salt and freshwater situations. They feed on a variety of aquatic flora and fauna by straining surface water and by diving. They will also take berries and seeds in season and leaves. Nesting and egg- laying starts from mid August, and double brooding is common.
Common in southern South America, in Chile and Argentina, and in Tierra del Fuego and islands of the Beagle Channel to Staten Island.
